How antique gold looks and where it works
Antique gold is the most characterful of the five Imperial finishes. Its warm, deep colour has an aged quality that suits Victorian and Edwardian bathrooms and bolder Art Deco schemes. It stands out beautifully against dark paint colours such as navy, bottle green or charcoal, and against a painted cast iron bath. With white metro tiles and white ceramics it gives a classic, polished look.
Westminster showers and period details
Across our taps and showers, antique gold is the only finish apart from chrome for Imperial's Westminster valves and risers, such as the Westminster rigid riser with 220mm Dart head. For a high-level cistern, the high-level flush kit comes in antique gold too, and Richmond accessories and exposed wastes complete the set. See more on our bathroom accessories page.
Is antique gold hard to keep clean?
It is fairly forgiving of everyday marks. Imperial advises cleaning with warm soapy water and drying with a soft cloth, and warns that bleach, abrasives, polishes and detergents can damage gold-plated surfaces in particular.
Can I match my bath feet to antique gold taps?
Several of our cast iron baths offer gold feet. Tones can differ between products, so ask us to compare samples before you order.
Antique gold or brushed brass?
Antique gold is richer and more traditional; brushed brass is lighter with a satin texture and suits modern rooms as well. Our guide to tap finishes compares them side by side.
How long does antique gold take?
Roughly four weeks, as it is made to order. Chrome is quicker at about a week, but order both early in your project.
