Matt Black and Matt Black Grained
Carlyon Bay units are painted wooden cabinets in a smooth Matt Black, shaped to follow the curve of the Carlyon basin, with a metal trim. The Carlyon Bay large 1-drawer unit is 720mm wide. Fradley units are hand finished in Matt Black Grained, a grained finish with a visible wood texture that feels a little softer and more traditional.
Choosing metal finishes with black
Black shows off metalwork more than any other cabinet colour. Brushed brass and antique gold give a warm contrast that suits a period room. Chrome and polished nickel look crisper and more monochrome, especially with white tiles. Keep taps, handles and trims in the same finish so the room hangs together; our guide to bathroom tap finishes compares all five.
Does a matt black vanity unit show marks?
Dark matt surfaces show water spots, toothpaste and dust more readily than mid tones. A quick wipe with a soft damp cloth, then drying, keeps it looking good. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scourers, which can polish or scratch a matt finish.
Will a black unit make a small bathroom feel smaller?
Not if you plan for it. A wall hung unit such as the Fradley medium wall hung unit keeps the floor visible, and light walls and flooring stop the room feeling closed in. If black feels too heavy, see our grey vanity units or green vanity units.
Can I see the black finishes in person?
Yes. Painted colours change with the light, so see them before you decide. Browse the full bathroom furniture range, then book a free one-to-one consultation through our contact page.
