Wide, tall or round
Over a double basin or long vanity, a landscape mirror 120cm to 140cm wide, such as Tate, Brooklyn, Astoria or Ravenna, spans the whole unit. The City Rectangular at 150x50cm can hang either way, as a long strip above a vanity or a tall, narrow mirror on a slim wall. The Oslo Arch is 140cm tall. For a statement circle, the Edison Round reaches 120cm and Claris Round 100cm. Everything else is on our main bathroom mirrors page.
Large illuminated mirrors
A big lit mirror can act as the main light at the basin. Edison and Claris are back-lit with adjustable colour temperature, while Cleo Rectangular and Tate Light (both 120x70cm) and Astoria (140x70cm) are front-lit, which is better for tasks. All have a built-in demister apart from Fractal. See more in our illuminated bathroom mirrors.
How wide should a mirror be over double basins?
Aim for a mirror slightly narrower than the vanity unit, leaving a little wall on each side. If a window or cabinet is in the way, two matching mirrors, one over each basin, are a good alternative.
Is a large mirror difficult to fit?
Large mirrors are heavy, so they need fixings suited to the wall, and plasterboard may need extra support behind it. Agree the exact position with your fitter and electrician early, especially for a lit model.
Portrait or landscape?
Many rectangular designs here hang either way, as shown on each product page. Landscape suits wide vanities; portrait suits narrow walls. Short on space? See our small bathroom mirrors, or plan it at a free consultation.
