Choosing a shower tray size
Start with the space and the enclosure or screen you plan to use, because the tray and the glass need to match. The Lowline shower tray comes in more than 50 rectangle and square sizes, from 700 x 700mm to 2000 x 900mm. For a curved corner enclosure, the Lowline quadrant and offset quadrant tray runs from 800 to 1000mm, with offset sizes in left and right hand versions. A long tray suits a walk-in layout with a fixed screen, while a shorter tray works well with a sliding or hinged door.
Low-profile stone resin trays
Lowline trays are 40mm high, made in the UK from stone resin with a tough acrylic-capped surface, and WRAS approved. For walk-in showers, the Lowline tray with drying area has a ridged section at one end, so you can step out without dripping onto the floor.
Anti-slip and slate-effect trays
The Surefoot anti-slip shower tray has a slip-resistant gel coated surface for extra confidence underfoot, and comes with self-levelling screws; a quadrant version is available too. For a natural stone look, the Serina slate-effect tray is just 30mm deep, with a hidden linear waste and a textured, slip-resistant surface in matt white, graphite or soft black.
Is the waste included?
For Lowline and Surefoot trays you choose a 90mm waste and trap as an option, in five finishes, or no waste if you already have one. Serina needs its fast-flow linear waste kit, which you can add with a chrome, white or soft black cover. Where the waste cannot run under the floor, our leg sets and easy plumb kits raise the tray, and the installation kit has everything to bed and seal it.
What should go on the shower walls?
Tiles or wall panels both work. Grout-free wall panels are quick to fit and easy to clean, while tiles give you more choice of pattern. Our guide to shower wall panels vs tiles compares the two.
