Planning a bathroom renovation

Start with the layout rather than the products. Note where the soil pipe, water supply and window are, and decide what has to stay put. Moving a toilet or adding a shower is possible, but it changes the scope of the job.

Next, decide how you use the room. A family bathroom often needs a bath with a shower over it, while an en suite may be better with a generous shower and a compact basin. Then choose a style and stick with it, so the bath, basin, toilet and taps feel like one design.

Choosing a bathroom suite

Most of our suites are designed as matching collections, so the basin and toilet share the same shapes. From there:

  • Bath: our baths come in cast iron and acrylic, with composite stone and aluminium options too.
  • Basin: a pedestal, stand, console or vanity unit, depending on how much storage you need. See our bathroom basins.
  • Toilet: close coupled, low level, high level, back to wall or wall hung. Compare them in our toilets collection.
  • Taps and showers: choose one metal finish and use it throughout. Browse taps and showers.

Walls, floors, lighting and heat

Around the suite, the surfaces make the biggest difference. We supply porcelain and ceramic bathroom tiles from brands including Ca' Pietra, RAK Ceramics and Imola, as well as Ambiance luxury vinyl flooring. If you would rather avoid grout, Showerwall panels are waterproof and come in laminate, acrylic and compact versions.

Finish with an illuminated mirror, many with a built-in demister, and a radiator from our heating range. Any electrical work in a bathroom should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Birmingham?

It depends on the size of the room, layout changes and the products you choose. Our bathroom renovation cost guide explains what drives the price, and every quote we give is itemised.

Can I buy products without having them fitted?

Yes. You can order online, or we can design, supply and fit the whole room with the same team from start to finish.

Do you only do traditional bathrooms?

No. Much of our sanitaryware is traditional in style, but the tiles, wall panels and mirrors we supply suit modern rooms too. We can also work to tighter budgets as well as higher-end projects.

When should I order made-to-order items?

Early. Chrome usually takes around a week, but other finishes and painted furniture are made to order and take around four weeks, so allow for this before booking a fitter.

How do I get started?

Book a free one-to-one consultation through our contact page. Our showroom is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
