Buying guides

How brushed nickel looks and what it suits

Brushed nickel has a fine grain that diffuses light, giving a quiet, satin look. It feels more relaxed than chrome and a little warmer. It pairs well with stone and marble-effect tiles, soft greys, whites and pale timber, and it sits comfortably in both modern and traditional rooms. The Edwardian basin mono mixer in brushed nickel is a good example: a period shape in a finish that feels current.

A practical choice for busy bathrooms

The texture hides fingerprints and dried water spots, which makes brushed nickel a sensible finish for a family bathroom or a shower that gets heavy use. For a complete set from our taps and showers collection, the Lichfield shower rail kit, Richmond towel rails and hooks, bath wastes and flush pipes all come in brushed nickel. See more on our bathroom accessories page.

How should I clean brushed nickel taps?

Imperial advises warm soapy water and drying with a soft cloth. Avoid bleach, abrasives, polishes and detergents, which Imperial warns can damage nickel-plated surfaces.

Brushed nickel or chrome?

Chrome is brighter and cooler and shows marks more readily, but arrives faster, at about one week. See the chrome page to compare, or read our guide to bathroom tap finishes.

Can I get brushed nickel bath feet?

Yes, brushed nickel feet are offered on several of our cast iron baths, so the bath, taps and accessories can all match.

Are Westminster showers available in brushed nickel?

No, those come in chrome and antique gold only. The Lichfield, Edwardian and Victorian shower options here are all available in brushed nickel.
