Corner Baths: UK Guide to Sizes, Prices and Layouts

Carron Omega offset corner bath in a bathroom

TL;DR: A corner bath is a bath shaped to fit into the corner of a room, either square with equal sides or offset with one longer side, and ours cost from £1,111 to £2,802 including VAT.

  • We sell six Carron corner baths: four square (1200 to 1500mm) and two offset (1550 x 950mm and 1700 x 1000mm).
  • Each comes in 5mm acrylic (20-year warranty) or Carronite (40-year warranty), on its own or with a matching corner panel.
  • Five of the six also come as a whirlpool bath, from £2,890.
  • A corner bath does not always save space: a 1200 x 1200mm square bath covers more floor than a 1700 x 700mm straight bath.
  • For a daily shower, a shower bath is usually more practical than a corner bath.

A corner bath is a bath shaped to sit in the corner of a room, with two sides against the walls and a curved or angled front. They suit rooms where a straight bath would block a door or window, and the larger ones give a roomy soak or space for two.

Below we cover the sizes and prices we sell, square vs offset, materials, panels, whirlpool versions, showering and how to measure. Prices are ours at the time of writing and include VAT.

Square or offset corner bath?

Square corner baths have two equal sides and sit symmetrically in the corner. They are the deepest, roomiest option: the Centennial holds 407 litres and is big enough for two. The trade-off is floor space, because a square bath reaches as far out along both walls.

Offset corner baths are longer on one side, so you get a full-length bath with extra width at one end. The Omega is 1700mm long, the same as a standard straight bath, and 1000mm wide at the wider end. Offset baths are made in left- and right-hand versions to suit the corner they go in. Tell us which corner it is going in and we will check the hand before you order.

Acrylic or Carronite?

Every corner bath we sell comes in two materials:

  • 5mm acrylic, with a 20-year warranty. This is the lower-cost option.
  • Carronite, Carron's reinforced acrylic, which is stronger and more rigid than standard acrylic and carries a 40-year warranty.

Both are light compared with cast iron, so a corner bath is usually fine for an upstairs bathroom. For a wider comparison, read our guide to bath materials.

Bath panels

You can buy each bath on its own, if it will be tiled in or boxed in by your fitter, or with a matching corner panel for the front. The panel price is included in the option you choose on each product page.

Corner whirlpool baths

Every model except the Oriole is also available as a whirlpool bath, with the jet system fitted at the Carron factory. Prices start at £2,890 for the Dove with whirlpool, and the Centennial with whirlpool starts at £3,402. Is a corner bath good for a small bathroom?

Not always. A corner bath can solve an awkward layout, but it rarely saves floor space. A 1200 x 1200mm square corner bath covers about 1.44 square metres, while a 1700 x 700mm straight bath covers about 1.19. Where a corner bath helps is when the room's shape means a straight bath would block a door, window or radiator.

If space is tight, compare our small baths, or a back-to-wall bath: the Sofie comes in a left- or right-hand corner version, from £2,029.

Can you shower over a corner bath?

You can, but it is not ideal. A corner bath has no straight edge for a standard glass bath screen, so you would normally use a curved or L-shaped curtain rail. If you will shower every day, a shower bath or a straight bath with a screen is more practical.

How to measure for a corner bath

  • Measure both walls from the corner, and check the corner is square. Older houses often are not.
  • For an offset bath, note which wall the long side will run along. That decides whether you need a left- or right-hand bath.
  • Check the door swing, radiator and window positions against the bath's full footprint.
  • Check your hot water. A large corner bath takes a lot of water to fill, so make sure your boiler or cylinder can keep up.
  • Decide on deck-mounted or wall-mounted taps before the bath goes in, so the pipes can be run to the right place. Browse our bath taps and bath shower mixers.
