TL;DR: Yes, you can have a freestanding jacuzzi bath: Carron's Celsius freestanding bath can be fitted with a C-Lenda whirlpool system at the factory, with prices from £4,104 for the 1900 x 1000mm oval.
- Two sizes take a whirlpool system: the Celsius Oval (1900 x 1000mm, 320 litres) and the Celsius Duo (2000 x 1400mm, 560 litres), which is big enough for two.
- Prices run from £4,104 to £7,140, and the Oval can also have a one-piece white panel.
- The pump needs power and service access, so plan the electrics and position before the floor goes down.
- A full Duo holds 560 litres of water, about 560kg before the bath and bathers, so the floor must be checked.
- You'll need floor-standing or wall-mounted taps.
Yes, freestanding jacuzzi baths exist, and the Carron Celsius freestanding bath is one of them: it can be fitted with a C-Lenda whirlpool system at the Carron factory. Freestanding whirlpool baths are less common than built-in ones, so there is more to plan, but the result is a statement bath with a proper jet massage.
Why are freestanding jacuzzi baths less common?
Freestanding jacuzzi baths are less common because a whirlpool bath has a pump, pipework and controls that need to be hidden and reached for servicing. On a built-in bath, a removable side panel does that job. A freestanding bath is on show from every angle, so the whole thing has to be designed around the system from the start.
Freestanding whirlpool bath sizes and prices
| Model | Size | Capacity | Price with whirlpool |
|---|---|---|---|
| Celsius Oval Freestanding | 1900 x 1000mm | 320 litres | £4,104 to £6,284 |
| Celsius Duo Freestanding | 2000 x 1400mm | 560 litres | £6,239 to £7,140 |
Both are made in Carronite, Carron's reinforced acrylic, with a 40-year warranty on the bath. Prices depend on the whirlpool system, and on the Oval you can add Carron's one-piece white panel. The Duo takes Systems 1 to 4. The Duo is a true bath for two, so it suits a large main bathroom or a generous en suite. See all the options on the Celsius freestanding bath with whirlpool page.
Choosing the whirlpool system
The six C-Lenda systems range from six side jets with simple pneumatic controls up to sixteen jets (side, back and foot) with electronic controls and a chromotherapy light. Not every system fits every size, so the product page only shows the ones available. Our jacuzzi bath cost guide sets out what each system adds to the price.
Planning the electrics and pump access
A freestanding jacuzzi bath needs its own electrical supply, and on a freestanding bath it usually has to come up through the floor rather than along a wall. That means planning it early:
- Fix the bath's position first, so the electrician and plumber know exactly where the supply, waste and water need to be.
- Use a qualified electrician. The pump needs a dedicated, RCD-protected supply, and work near a bath is notifiable under Part P in England.
- Plan service access to the pump with us before you order, so it can be reached in future without lifting the bath.
- Do it before the floor goes down, so cables and pipes aren't chased into a finished floor.
Can your floor take a freestanding jacuzzi bath?
Most sound floors can take a freestanding jacuzzi bath, but it must be checked first. Water weighs about a kilo per litre, so a full Celsius Duo holds roughly 560kg of water before you add the bath itself and two bathers. Upstairs, your fitter should check the joists' size, span and condition, and whether the load needs spreading. Our guide to cast iron vs acrylic baths explains what a floor check involves.
Taps, waste and room size
- Taps. A freestanding bath needs a floor-standing bath shower mixer or wall-mounted taps. Browse our bath taps and bath shower mixers.
- Waste. The Celsius freestanding bath comes with a waste, but the waste pipe still needs a route and a fall through the floor.
- Space around the bath. Leave room to walk around it, clean behind it and reach the controls comfortably. The Duo is 1400mm wide, so measure carefully.
Freestanding or built-in jacuzzi bath?
A built-in jacuzzi bath is simpler and cheaper to install, because the pump sits behind a removable panel and the supply can run along the wall. Our built-in whirlpool baths start at £2,250. A freestanding jacuzzi bath costs more and takes more planning, but it makes the bath the centrepiece of the room. Compare them in our whirlpool baths collection.

How much is a freestanding jacuzzi bath?
Our freestanding whirlpool baths cost from £4,104 to £7,140, depending on the size, system and panel.
