Chrome, polished nickel or brushed nickel
Chrome is the brightest and coolest of the three, with a crisp, almost blue-white reflection, and it is the quickest Imperial finish at around a week. Polished nickel is just as shiny but warmer, with a soft golden hint that suits period bathrooms. Brushed nickel has a satin texture that hides fingerprints and water marks well, which helps in a busy family bathroom. The William wall mounted mirror comes in all three, matching Imperial taps exactly. Our guide to bathroom tap finishes goes into more detail.
Satin aluminium and lit silver frames
Satin aluminium is a soft, matt silver rather than a mirror shine, and suits brushed taps and pared-back modern rooms. The Ravenna Light has a stepped glass frame in satin aluminium with LED lighting, and Ravenna is the plain version. Kingsley, in brushed nickel, is lit front and back, and Tate Light comes in chrome.
How do I keep chrome looking bright?
Chrome shows water spots, so dry the frame with a soft cloth after a shower. Use mild soapy water rather than abrasive or bleach-based cleaners.
Can I mix chrome and nickel?
You can, but it works best when it looks intentional, such as a brushed nickel mirror with polished nickel taps. Chrome right beside polished nickel can make one look slightly off. If you want warmth instead, compare our brass and gold bathroom mirrors.
Is there a mirror to match Carlyon Bay furniture?
Yes. The Carlyon Bay Round Mirror has a painted frame in Matt Black, Dartmouth Grey or Sea Mist, with four slim strips available in chrome, polished nickel or brushed nickel, as well as brass and gold.
